Jack Thompson has earned a reputation for championing legislation restricting video games. He\'s appeared on news shows like CNN, often presenting what many would argue is a one-sided assessment of the state of the game industry. Now, he\'s booking appointments for talk show appearances over the recent Oblivion re-rate issue. In a press release sent to GamesFirst, Jack Thompson makes himself available for talk show interviews. The press release contains huge and obvious factual errors, a tactic that\'s been used by Jack Thompson repeatedly in the past. Still, you have to love quotes like, \"(The Oblivion nudity) is not a modification or \"mod\" of the game by gamers. It is an unlocking of content that was put there by Take-Two with the unlocking code provided by the developer!\" If you\'re up for a laugh, or to just be really pissed off, read the full press release.

According to Nintendo.com, which was partially off-line for part of the morning, Nintendo has kissed the Nintendo Revolution name goodbye. Say hello to the Nintendo Wii, the new and final name for Nintendo\'s next home console. We here at GamesFirst did a double take for each of the two ii\'s, and even have one editor still convinced that the Nintendo site has just been hacked and that this will be cleared up by the afternoon. However, after the website came back up with all the appropriate links in place, it looks like this is official. The Nintendo Wii is here to stay, and the Nintendo Revolution is gone forever. All shall bow before the Wii.

Steam users will be able to purchase and download the game via their Steam client, and Meridian4 hopes this will expose Shadow Grounds to a whole new audience. The announcement also bolsters Steam\'s position as a major hitmaker, having already picked up several hugely popular indy creations including Darwinia and Garry\'s Mod.

Atari has announced that yet another title is under development for the Nintendo Revolution, this time a Dragon Ball Z game. In a press release earlier this morning, Atari announced Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the Revolution, saying that, \"The... controller featured with Nintendo Revolution is perfectly suited for Dragon Ball Z... which engages players with fast-paced fighting moves.\" Dragon Ball Z games on the current generation have mixed fighting with RPG elements to varying degrees of success. We\'ll see how that translates onto Nintendo\'s new platform.

Every once in a while, something that has to do with video game culture comes along that makes it onto the front page. Sometimes it\'s Mario fans hanging yellow question mark boxes around a paranoid town, and sometimes it\'s as simple as a comedy group that knows their gaming. In this case, it\'s a Google Video of a musical comedy group preforming a song called, \"Make You Happy Tonight.\" The musical tribute starts off innocent enough, but quickly turns into a theme every hardcore gamer will identify with. Or at least their significant others. Trust us that this clip is worth your time to listen to.

If you have a PC running Windows Media Center Edition and an XBox 360, you already have access to a slick UI that you can use to stream media to your 360. Unfortunately, Microsoft severely limited what video codecs are supported out of box to Windows Medio Video and ASF. Fans of alternative formats like Xvid and DivX were simply out of luck. Thankfully, the people that brought us the Xbox Media Center have come to our rescue with a free download that lets you play a wide variety of formats on your Xbox 360. Take a look to see how it works.

A post from Bethesda Softworks in the official Oblivion forums indicates that not only will the next downloadable mod for Elder Scrolls IV be a full quest, it will also be less expensive than the Horse Armor modification currently available. A quest called The Orrery is expected to be available within the next week, and will include a new location (the Imperial Orrery in the Arcane University), new rewards, and new powers that are based on the phases of the moon. The better content for the price will hopefully help lessen player concerns that Bethesda intends to offer minor modifications at high prices. Unlike individual items, a quest is something that might be worth paying for. Hopefully.

April 1st is coming to an end, which means that news in the video game industry is about to become reliable again. April Fool\'s day is our industry\'s chance to have a little fun, and you\'ll be hard pressed to find a game site that hasn\'t indulged in a jokester post somewhere in its past. Any serious news that even has a hint of sensationalism will be held until the 2nd in favor of the bland or the fake; no one will believe any major announcement. We take a look at a few of our favorite jokes from this year, assuming they\'re all really jokes; with some ideas it can be hard to tell.
