game: Garfield and his Nine Lives

Garfield stars in his very own Game Boy Advance game, rescuing friends and eating junk food...even while he\'s sleeping. Much like the recent Garfield movies, there\'s really nothing to see here unless you have a five-year-old screaming for it. If you are hoping to satisfy a pre-gamer with a thing for grumpy cats, then Garfield and His Nine Lives might buy a few hours of quiet on the next big roadtrip. Check Amanda\'s review for details.

The Naruto franchise gives us the old one-two punch with a Gamecube title and this Game Boy Advance game, Naruto: Ninja Council. Featuring bright, anime-styled graphics and traditionally-based 2D platforming and brawling action, Ninja Council has a lot of promise. But does all that promise pay off? Astro Boy has been praised by reviewers since its release in 2003. Another gem from Treasure, Astro Boy proves there is still some enjoyment to find in the 2D action gaming arena. A shooter/platformer in the vein of Gunstar Heroes, Astro Boy brings Osamu Tezuka\'s world reknowned character to life on the Game Boy Advance. We rarely get Astro Boy releases in the US, which is another testament to just how good this game is. Check out the conclusion to Robert\'s six-part retrospective here. Fittingly, Robert looks at how the legendary Treasure and the legendary Tezuka combine to create a GBA title that should be in every gamer\'s library.

The long-awaited sequel to Treasure\'s Gunstar Heroes, Gunstar Super Heroes brings the same high action gameplay to the Game Boy Advance. Released last October, Gunstar Super Heroes offers up the same quality graphics and colorful animation, but the gameplay has undergone some tweaks and changes that might leave the most hardcore of classic Gunstar Heroes fans wanting more. Konami has announced that a yet to be named Castlevania double pack will be making its way to the Game Boy Advance early next year. Two of the series most highly rated titles, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, will be put on a single GBA cartridge to give players a double-dose of Dracula whippin\' fun.

Surely much to Sony\'s chagrin, those clever hackers have done it again. SonyXTeam has released a Firmware Downgrader for the PSP that will downgrade version 2.0 firmware to 1.50, which enables gamers who have recently bought the system to downgrade their firmware and use homebrew PSP utilities and play homebrew PSP games. This allows new PSP owners to join the rest of us playing Game Boy Advance games while we wait for something decent to come out. It sure beats watching movies on the thing!

In a horribly misguided stab at limiting gambling in public places, the Greek Government has created a ban on all videogames. That\'s right: Playing games on your PC, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance (especially in public) is illegal in Greece. The first couple of internet cafe owners have been arrested already for allowing gaming in their public establishments, and things have gotten more rotten than 4:00 AM at a LAN bash over there.
