The PlayStation 2 launch was legendary for beginning the \"shortages\" craze. After last year\'s Xbox 360 launch, all gamers should now realize that if they want a new console system on launch day, it will be a fight. Nintendo looks to be shipping enough systems to satisfy demand, but this year we\'re concerned again about Sony. With some retailers refusing to take PlayStation 3 preorders, a confusing multi-configuration release offering, and a spotted history of delays and adjustments, PS3 is headed for a rocky launch. We have some details about what to expect on launch day here.

Take Two Interactive renegotiated their contract with 3D Realms back in March, pulling two million dollars from the project at the same time as offering a $500,000 bonus if 3D Realms delivers by the end of the year. The $500,000 bonus is only paid if Duke Nukem Forever ships by December 31st, 2006. What does this mean for Duke Nukem? Well, it might get the title out the door. On the other hand, cutting money from the budget and then leaning on the developer to finish faster isn\'t exactly a formula for a quality game. A bonus might sound like a good idea, unless it leads to rushed development with lower standards.

Several months ago, a number of EvilGamer.com images began circulating around the web. Released before the launch of the Xbox 360, the images compared PGR3 screenshots to their real-life counterparts out here in the real world. Now there\'s a new image that\'s making the rounds, this time comparing screenshots from Crysis, using the CryEngine2 from CryTek, to two real-world photographs. The results are extremely impressive. Combine these visuals with CryTek\'s insistence that Crysis will push the boundaries of both storytelling and gameplay, and you have a game worth keeping an eye on. Crysis is expected to ship for the PC in the Fall of 2006.

We\'re only 20 days from the release of the Prey Demo on PC and Xbox 360. That means you\'ll be able to see what the gaming media has been raving about since Prey made an unexpected appearance on the show floor at E3 2005. Combining traditional FPS elements with dynamic gravity, Spirit Power, and Portals, Prey adds up to one hell of a shooter. With the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360, and the Wii on the market come November, how will Sony cope? Are they looking for an answer to Microsoft\'s Live Anywhere service, which will link Xbox 360 owners, PC owners, and mobile owners in a new and fresh way? Are they looking to clean up with their Blu-Ray high definition disc player? Or will their new tilt/sensor Dual un-Shock controller be able to propell Sony beyond Nintendo\'s Wii? Truly, there is a lot ahead of Sony. President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Phil Harrison has a lot to say about the PS3, Live Anywhere, and the Wii remote. Nintendo has (sort of) spilled the beans about the Wii price and their system launch plans in a recent fiscal year 2006 projection report. Nintendo has stated that the Wii system will not exceed $250 in America, or ?25,000 in Japan. They expect to ship six million units for the launch window, and a total of 17 million units during the first year of the Wii\'s life. These numbers are worldwide, and Nintendo has committed to a worldwide simultaneous launch. Get more details in our report.

Namco has been steadily rolling out the latest games for the \"mobile arcade\" of the future. At E3, the Pac-Man Arcade was in full effect: Besides a sequel to everybody\'s favorite game, Pac-Man, there are tons of new games to download that include both retro and cutting edge content. As the mobile gaming space continues to open up, Namco has managed to make strides in every direction, from games to ring tones and branding gaming as a \"theme\" for your fave hipster handset. Booth babes have been a hot topic at E3 this year. The ESA has instigated additional enforcement policies to help control the extent to which booth babes reveal their bodies, and not everyone is happy about that. When two girls in revealing clothing showed up outside the convention center with signs that read, \"Booth Babe Protest: I\'m \"E\" for Everyone,\" and, \"Bikinis > Bullets,\" we couldn\'t help but stop for an interview. When E3 security showed up to chase them off the grounds, we also couldn\'t help but throw a press credential, a camera, and a little weight into the mix in an attempt to put it to The Man. Seems to have worked.

Alan Wake has found a home in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft will publish Remedy\'s latest title as an exclusive Xbox 360 game. Featuring a creepy psychological storyline that blends Stephen King style thrills with Twin Peaks style WTF?!?, Alan Wake promises to be a relatively amazing title. Microsoft has announced Xbox Live Anywhere, which will unify gaming on Windows Vista, Xbox 360 and Windows Mobile devices. Not only does this mean voice chat, friends list management, and text and multimedia messaging, but also multiplatform interoperability.
