Cops 2170: The Power Of Law
game: Cops 2170: The Power Of Law
review | 03/19/05 | Eric Bodrero
When a game touts mechanical rats capable of shooting at you, it's either a sign of genius, guts, or both on the part of the developer. In the case of Cops 2170, it's just the second; the combination of poor play dynamics and a few key design decisions leave the game with less of a positive punch than we could have hoped. If there is genius here, a few more months of development time before releasing the game onto the public might have made it more apparent. Read our full review to learn more.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
game: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
review | 02/24/05 |
Knights of the Old Republic II finds itself in the difficult position of trying to improve on one of the best games in recent years. The result is a game built on tried and true game dynamics, a darker emphasis than the original, and a new story that takes you from Star Wars planet to Star Wars planet, but doesn't break ground and drops you at the end. A blast to play, but missing a little bit of that special magic that was captured in the first, KotoRII might not rock your world. David has the inside scoop.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
game: Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
review | 01/04/05 | Eric Qualls
Baten Kaitos is a card-based RPG that features 1000+ cards, over 140 attack combos, and gorgeous graphics. Even with its fair share of problems, which are mostly due to the fact that card-based games aren't exactly "all that", it is still worth checking out for GameCube owners. Read all about it right here.

Lineage II
game: Lineage II
review | 12/27/04 | Jason Frank
Lineage II is the most popular MMORPG in the world. Thousands of individuals worldwide love the game and play it religiously, so much that players in Southeast Asia are occasionally carted off to the hospital after multi-day Lineage II benders. Of course, not everyone is so enamored of the MMORPG genre, or with, specifically, Lineage II. And one of those folks happens to be our own Jason Hickman. We know we're going to take it on this one, but we feel obligated to express an array of opinion, so click the details to read the review, then let the flaming commence.

Everquest II
game: Everquest II
review | 12/14/04 | Eric Bodrero
With quality competition from games like City of Heroes and World of Warcraft, all arriving in the last year to vie for our monthly subscription dollars, the makers of EverQuest have a much tougher battlefield before them than they did five years ago when the series first helped define the genre. How good of an experience does EverQuest II offer? Is it worth your time in a world awash with MMOGs? Make sure you read Eric's review to find out.

Shadow Hearts: Covenant
game: Shadow Hearts: Covenant
review | 11/09/04 | Eric Qualls
With no major SquareEnix releases this holiday season for PS2, RPG gamers are free to open their arms and embrace the rest of the genre. Midway's Shadow Hearts: Covenant fills the void between Final Fantasies quite nicely and might make you forget all about spikey haired heroes or heroines in short shorts. Read all about it here.

Future Tactics: The Uprising
game: Future Tactics: The Uprising
review | 08/25/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Bright and cartoony, you might wonder at first glance if Future Tactics: The Uprising might swim a tad bit on the shallow end of the pool. Well, you might be right. If you haven't had a chance to check out this semi-RPG with lots of bang and little else, click here to let Eric fill you in.

Tales of Symphonia
game: Tales of Symphonia
review | 08/11/04 | Aaron Stanton
Just because it has cartoon graphics doesn't mean it's for the kids at heart. Tales of Symphonia hits the GameCube carrying a dark core under a childlike exterior. Take a look at this anime inspired multi-player RPG, and you probably won't be disappointed. Read the review here.

Jade Empire
game: Jade Empire
preview | 07/10/04 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
The wizards at Bioware that brought us Knights of the Old Republic are at it again. Jade Empire is an action RPG set in mythological China, and so far it seems like it has all the right stuff. Like KOTR, Jade Empire looks to offer a strong, story driven RPG experience and a hearty dose of action. Our guy Eric Bodrero got his hands on it at E3 and has good things to say about it. Savage: The Battle for Newerth, isn't your typical PC title. Essentially a FPS shooter with A bit of RTS and the occasional tinge of MMORPG, this title adds a little teamwork to the action routine. The next new thing or an interesting gimmik? Click here to find out.

Planetside Review
game: Planetside
review | 08/10/03 | Aaron Stanton
Sony Online Entertainment looks to build a great sci-fi MMORPG with Planetside. This epic game features tactical squad-based action, loads of vehicles, amazingly cool weapons and items, and one of the best soundtracks we\'ve heard. But that\'s not all.

Eve Online Review
game: Eve Online
review | 07/20/03 | Shawn Rider
Simon and Schuster\'s epic space simulator is a phenomenal achievement. Eve Online provides such a large scope of possibility that this is one MMORPG that might just come too close to recreating a living world. We love those immersive environments, but what happens when immersivity is paired with sometimes very tedious realism?
