Lost: Via Domus Review
game: Lost: Via Domus
review | 03/22/08 | Shawn Rider
Never one to leave any stone unturned for clues about the next big revelation on Lost, our intrepid Editor in Chief, Shawn Rider, takes a look at Lost: Via Domus. It\'s a dirty job that nobody else wanted, and evidence that Shawn clearly has a problem. It\'s not a great game, but it is a solid six to eight hours of time spent with Lost. And sometimes that\'s all you need.

Will the 'Station Rumble Soon?
editorial | 09/17/07 | Chris Martin
This article came by way of Shacknews, but originated from Pro-G who reported (citing some insider info) that Sony is likely to announce at TGS a new Dual Shock (we are only on #2, at this point) in an effort to cover their bloodied SIXAXIS tracks right into your living room. The rumored \"update\" looks an attempt to curb the potty mouths of internet users and Sony bashers everywhere, and comes hot off negotiations with rumble manufacturers (and patent holders) Immersion. And it\'s about damn time, since the PlayStation pioneered rumble anyway. Now that rumble is being reconsidered in the PS3, is it enough? Will it be enough? We give our two cents.

BioShock BioShock BioShock Bioshock...BioShock!
game: BioShock
news | 08/29/07 | Chris Martin
Tired of news about BioShock? We hear you. While our review is still baking in the oven, getting crispy on the edges, we came across a neat little factoid for all you fans of the old jest: \"My game is better, ha, ha!\" For it appears that BioShock not only has become critically received as one of the best games of all time, not only this year. According to www.Gamerankings.com, Bioshock has supplanted Resident Evil 4 in the #4 highest ranked game of all time, just below The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64), Soul Calibur (DC), and Metroid Prime (GC).

Top 20 Things We Want in the Dead Rising Sequel
game: Dead Rising 2
editorial | 08/23/07 | Chris Martin
It\'s officially unofficial according to Capcom reps. But you know we\'ll probably see a Dead Rising sequel some time in the near future. Dead Rising sold over a million copies worldwide and became one of the staple buys for adopters of the Xbox 360. It was an excellent survival horror game with some great humor. The sandbox environment, multiple endings, and various side quests gave it longevity. Basically, we know it\'s coming on one platform or another. Not if but when it gets announced, here are the top 20 features we would like to see in the sequel.

2 New Demos on Live: Eternal Sonata and Vampire Rain
news | 08/07/07 | Chris Martin
Just arrived on Xbox Live today are two new demos. Eternal Sonata from Namco Bandai is likely to satisfy all those eager for a JRPG on Microsoft\'s console, and Vampire Rain, which is, something else entirely. I personally am excited for Eternal Sonata, as I haven\'t played a JRPG in some time and it looks fantastic from previews. I\'m less excited for the universally panned Vampire Rain, where you\'re an elite special forces unit sent to thin out the vampire ranks. Impressions forthcoming.

Halo 3 to feature 4 Player Co-Op, 2 New Characters to Join Previous Heroes
game: Halo 3
news | 08/01/07 | Chris Martin
I intentionally avoided, up until now, posting news about Halo 3 - pics notwithstanding - because, frankly, I don\'t care to learn about the levels or the neat gizmos the good Master Chief will be using this time around, ahead of time. They, to me, are spoilers. I am at the point where I just want to play the game for myself and be surprised. I am breaking my rule now because the latest news about Halo 3 steps beyond that broad line of \"developer hype.\" Today Bungie officially confirmed that Halo 3 will feature 4 player Co-op play over Xbox Live and System Link. It\'s that kind of important news that just needs to be boldface.

Command & Conquer 3 Review
game: Command & Conquer 3
review | 07/27/07 | Chris Martin
It you asked us three years ago if console gamers would get a decent real time strategy game in the next-generation, our response would have probably been resounding: \"I wouldn\'t hold your breath.\" We were surprised, fellow readers, not to have only a single decent strategy game come to the Xbox 360, but to have two. Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth has already been critically received, and now Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars gets the royal treatment. If setting Orcs upon a faction of Elves doesn\'t get your heart racing, perhaps setting a herd of mammoth tanks on unsuspecting Nod extremists will.

Review of Sandio's 3D Game O' Mouse
review | 06/04/07 | Jamie Gergen
While Sandio Technologies promises to revolutionize the way your mouse and game operate together, the learning curve is steep and difficult to overcome. Instead of improving your gaming experience and making you a better player, the 3D Gaming \'O Mouse will instead become an obstacle to overcome, as often as not. While the design works well for RTS camera controls, it falls apart when you move to faster paced titles like First Person Shooters. The inclusion of analog controls on the mouse may very well be a good idea, but not in this iteration, and after some time with the new mouse we simply can\'t recommend it at the $79 price tag.

Entropia Universe: The Blurring of Reality and Fantasy
game: Entropia Universe
editorial | 05/15/07 | Monica Hafer
There\'s quiet a bit of talk these days about the new wave of online gaming. One of the most publicized is the notion of real-life economies where a person can make a living doing what they love most--gaming! But often times these games aren\'t really judged as a gaming experience and only get press for their entrepreneurial events. In an attempt to penetrate the \"real-deal\" of Entropia Universe, it is necessary to make the investment of time to discover its complexity and uniqueness.

Forza Motorsport 2 is all about the cars. It\'s about loving them, tricking them out, customizing them, and collecting them. The game has, indeed, gone gold, but, not satisfied with that, the FM2 Demo has been released. The Forza Motorsport 2 Demo hit live yesterday at 2:00 a.m. PST, and now, having taken each car in the demo many, many times around Italy\'s Mugello track, we have our impressions.

Metal Slug Anthology Review
game: Meatal Slug Anthology
review | 04/12/07 | Matt James
Metal Slug Anthology continues SNK\'s tradition of beating mildly successful franchises to death. This time they package the entirety of the Metal Slug library onto one Wii disc. That\'s seven (count them, Seven!) Metal Slug games for about ten (10!) bucks cheaper than one fully priced game. With updated controls meant specifically for the Wii, what else could you ask for? Is this finally the ultimate Metal Slug package? Find out inside!

The Problem With Context Sensitive Buttons
editorial | 03/26/07 | Aaron Stanton
Viva Pinata is one of those games that continues to surface in discussions amongst the GamesFirst staff in a way that is normally reserved for blockbuster titles. Though it certainly is too far outside the realm of \"normal\" to appeal to every gamer, Viva Pinata does an extraordinarily good job of being different and addicting at the same time. Yet its simple gameplay has one issue. Through its use of context sensitive buttons, Viva Pinata managed to take a simple gameplay experience and endow it with the impression that there were too many buttons. Is it possible that what was once a feature that developers bragged about has in some ways managed to simply over-complicate the game?
