Fans of racing games take note: Project Gotham Racing 4 is a dream come true--lots of exotic cars, tons of tracks, weather effects, Bulldog Mode, and a rock-solid career mode to boot. Oh yeah, and motorcycles. PGR4 might be working a gamer niche that is already supersaturated by the likes of Forza, PGR3, and Burnout. But it still manages, despite it\'s competition, to be a furiously enjoyable racer with more variety than it perhaps knows what to do with.

Saint\'s Row is unmistakably influenced by Grand Theft Auto, but it manages to improve on the GTA formula in certain aspects. And why not? It took Rockstar almost a decade to get gamers into airplanes for crying out loud. And this is the 21st Century! Shouldn\'t we be able to save without retreating to a hideout? Rockstar\'s latest title isn\'t a murder simulator or hardcore gangsta shooter. It\'s a pleasant game of Table Tennis, and it\'s really well-done. Rockstar Presents Table Tennis comes from their San Diego studio, well known for creating the Smuggler\'s Run and Midnight Club series. Atlus and developer Success bring us Metal Saga, a sci-fi RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where outlaws and monsters run rampant. You play a nameless boy on a mission to save the world. Does that sound like a typical RPG plot? Absolutely. But when you add in some clever humor, plenty of minigames and non-linear extras to explore, and canine companions sporting heavy military-style rocketry, it can\'t be all bad, can it? Games like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Freelancer have become famous for their open-ended and near endless gameplay. With incredibly diverse player choice and a universe that\'s randomly generated each time you start a new campaign, Space Rangers 2 looks to give both titles a run for their money. The 2D RTS/3D Turn-based Strategy/Action title mixes a bit of everything into a game that\'s easily capable of taking on Oblivion in terms of the ability to go anywhere, and do anything. Space Rangers 2 is an unexpected gem that you\'ve probably not heard about, but should have.

Back in the early day of the PS2, Rockstar followed up their blockbuster GTA3 with State of Emergency, a game widely rumored to be based on the WTO riots in Seattle that put you in the middle of giant marauding crowds bent on destroying the man. SOE featured an innovative game engine that allowed for previously unheard of numbers of characters on-screen as well as a locational damage/weapon engine that allowed you to rip off body parts and use them to beat down new victims. Marble Blast Ulra is one of the first games developed for the new XBox Live Arcade on the XBox 360, and brings to mind nearly everything that was great about the golden era of shareware games, from try before you buy downloadable distribution models (which we like very much) to fun, simple gameplay based on equal parts thought and reflex.
