RTS+RPG=F-U-N, a Review of SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
game: SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
review | 07/01/06 | Blaine Krumpe
Blending RPG and RTS elements, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars puts you in command of an army tasked with defending the known world from utter evil. OK, so the innovation doesn\'t exactly carry through to the narrative plot. Regardless, if you love RPGs and you love real-time strategy, then you will likely love SpellForce 2\'s hybrid. From masses of ground forces to aerial assaulting mythological creatures, SpellForce 2 manages to add a little bit of everything without spoiling the soup. Check out Blaine\'s review here.

Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars Preview
game: Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars
preview | 03/22/06 | Sean Hilliard
Apsyr\'s Spellforce 2: Shadow Wars seeks to finally become a staple of the North American PC game library. Spellforce 2 is a hybrid real-time strategy and role-playing game that features massive battles involving both land and air-based fantasy combat. It\'s real pretty, and real chaotic, which is mostly good. Spellforce 2 is available this April for PC, and a demo is available now. Check out Sean\'s preview for the full story.

Philips Entertaible Debuts at CES
game: Philips Entertaible
preview | 01/05/06 | Shawn Rider
Philips has a crazy idea: Put a 30\" touch sensitive LCD monitor into a sturdy wooden table, make some digital-smarty pawns and dice, and let game developers go crazy on a hybrid digital and real-world based console platform. But it\'s more than a crazy idea: It\'s the Entertaible, and it\'s being shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show 2006. The Entertaible is set to redefine board games and brings us multiplayer touch-oriented gaming. If touching is good by yourself, it must be even better in a group. Get the details on the Philips Entertaible in our preview.

Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath Review
game: Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath
review | 12/31/05 | George Holomshek
An interesting hybrid of real-time and turn-based strategy play, Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath does its best to set itself apart from the masses of other strategy games. Set in a hypothetical alternate history that posits the Cuban Missile Crisis led to catastrophic nuclear war, the game has a lot going for it: Optional missions, nuclear wastelands, several different campaigns based on different superpowers. There is a lot to like here, but can Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath stand out among the faceless masses of hardcore war games? George has the review.
