Eragon Review
game: Eragon
review | 01/15/07 | Jason Perkins
The story behind the first Eragon book, movie, and video game is an interesting one, starting with a home-schooled student that published his book at 19 years old. Now, with a movie that is being universally trashed by reviewers, the Eragon video game has come forward to redeem the franchise from embarrassment. Sadly, its repetitive gameplay and incoherent storytelling don\'t do Eragon much justice, portraying the world as nothing but an endless stream of bad guys with frustrating gameplay. The movie and book have been accused of being derivative of classics like Star Wars; the video game doesn\'t present a coherent enough story to be accused of being derivative of anything.

BAFTA Announces the Britsh Academy Video Game Awards Winners
news | 10/06/06 | Chris Martin
It\'s about damn time the video game industry got a respectable awards ceremony (that\'s a big f#$%-you to Spike TV, by the way). BAFTA actually has given awards to games that deserve them. To all the development companies out there, who put so much hard work into their games, there\'s finally a way to give to them the honor and respect they deserve. This is truly a first step to viewing video games as an art form. This year, LocoRoco and Tom Clany\'s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter get their due, as do Lego Star Wars II: the Original Trilogy, Dr. Kawashima\'s Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain?, and The Movies, among others.

New PS3 Fatal Inertia Screens
game: Fatal Inertia
news | 09/22/06 | Chris Martin
Screenshots of Playstation 3 games continue to suggest that publishers are trying to take full advantage the PS3\'s power. Yesterday, publisher Koei released a bunch of new screenshots for Fatal Inertia, their futuristic hover racer that looks vaguely reminiscent of both F-Zero and the pod racing from Star Wars. Its gameplay emphasizes the use of physics as a tool to win races, but Fatal Inertia\'s graphics engine is evidently looking pretty good too. You can see that from the new screens.

Stubbs the Zombie Review
game: Stubbs the Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse
review | 10/24/05 | Shawn Rider
Aspyr is not one of the biggest publishers, but with some solid games under their belt (Lego Star Wars was a groundbreaking title), they\'ve put out some great experiences. The highly anticipated Stubbs the Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse is an incredible effort. Built on the Halo engine, Stubbs the Zombie features some rock-solid gameplay that is good, wholesome, gory fun for zombie fans. Help Stubbs assemble his shuffling army of the undead and take over the small hamlet of Punchbowl, PA. Check out our full review here.

E3 2005: Star Wars Battlefront II
game: E3 2005: Star Wars Battlefront II
preview | 05/23/05 | Blaine Krumpe
The original Star Wars: Battlefront allowed players to experience their favorite Star Wars locations from the eyelevel of the troops on the ground. Whether you played on the side of light or the side of dark didn't matter; you were sure to enjoy using the weapons of Star Wars to battle it out in a galaxy far, far away. LucasArts was kind enough to take us behind closed doors down at E3 2005 and show us the goodies of the next game in the franchise, cleverly named Star Wars: Battlefront II. What are they doing to make a great game better? How about some space battles? Read Blaine's preview for more details on what you can expect.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
game: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
review | 02/24/05 |
Knights of the Old Republic II finds itself in the difficult position of trying to improve on one of the best games in recent years. The result is a game built on tried and true game dynamics, a darker emphasis than the original, and a new story that takes you from Star Wars planet to Star Wars planet, but doesn't break ground and drops you at the end. A blast to play, but missing a little bit of that special magic that was captured in the first, KotoRII might not rock your world. David has the inside scoop.

preview | 02/14/05 | Blaine Krumpe
For some time, Star Wars games have had a perpetual hold on video game fans looking to experience more of the epic universe. The games themselves have traditionally been a mixed bag, with some good, some bad, and a few that radiated the dark side every time you passed the display case. The latest games in the pipeline, though, look to be full of the good stuff, from already released games like Knights of the Old Republic to the upcoming Republic Commando. One of those games is Empire at War, a real time strategy with all the stuff to be a hit. Check out Blaine's preview for a glimpse of things to come.

BioWare\'s latest foray into the console market has been a resounding success. There\'s a good reasons why Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been burning up the sales charts this summer: It freaking rules. Play as a light side or dark side jedi, save wookies, travel to exotic worlds and kill maneating beasts. How much better does it get?
