The advent of services like Xbox Live and the Wii Virtual Console have changed the dynamics of the industry. Suddenly there\'s a marketplace for less mainstream genres that have a hard time competing against the likes of Halo and Zelda. One such genre: Adventure Games. According to 1up.com, Nintendo has heard fans asking for adventure game content and contacted TellTale games about the possibility of bringing Sam and Max to the Wii. A sure thing? Far from it, but it\'s nice to know that you can make a difference if you shout loud enough. Good job, guys and gals.

Ah, remember when games were games and gamers were gamers who loved graphical adventures! Trust us, it happened sometime in the early nineties. Graphical adventures have been gaining steam lately, what with the soon-to-be-gold \"Sam & Max: Episode One\" in October. And since we love retro games so much, we put two and two together and came out with GROG! In this new weekly column, we force Chris to play through one old-school game and write about it. He\'s currently recovering now that he\'s seen the ghost pirate LeChuck in \"The Secret of Monkey Island.\"

Episodes, really. But not the TV kind. Telltale Games is bringing Sam & Max to episodic PC games over the course of 6 months. Based on the comic book characters by Steve Purcell, the dynamic detective duo are to return to the PC 13 years since their videogame debut with \"Sam and Max: Hit the Road.\" Sam & Max: Season One is going to hit PCs this October. We got to talk to Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games, about this upcoming release and see the game in action. Here\'s what we have to report.

Developed by the eccentric Croatian development house, Croteam, Serious Sam is known for bright, colorful graphics, frantic action, and lots and lots of bullets. This time out, we get an evolution of everything, but also a very true-to-roots fragfest that involves some of the most insane monsters we\'ve ever seen. Playlogic and Metropolis Software have announced Diabolique: License to Sin. Diabolique puts you in charge of Dark Eaville, a super spy with all of the Double-Oh-So-Smoothness of James Bond and all the evil demon-ness of Hellboy. (But he\'s cute like Sean Connery, too.) This is stealth-action mixed with some dark horror: Imagine Sam Fisher meets Blood Rayne. Or MGS meets Soul Reaver. Published by Dutch publisher Playlogic, and developed by Polish design house Metropolis Software, Diabolique: License to Sin looks on first glance like a title US gamers should keep an eye on for import. It\'s only about a month until Serious Sam II appears on the scene, and the screens are looking sweet. Serious Sam II is the second in a series of wacky first person shooters made famous by its complete disregard for any sense of reality. As Sam Stone, you\'ll face hundreds of enemies per level, fire thousands of bullets, and battle everything from stereotypical gothic chicks to evil stockbrokers. Unlike many recent FPS titles, which are dark, gloomy, and slow paced, Serious Sam II promises to keep things light and happy... well... funny, at least.

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow was unique in its ability to offer a multiplayer experience that was balanced and fun even though it had completely different play dynamics depending on the side you were on. Now, Chaos Theory aims to have spies working through levels in tandem with Co-op multiplay, a slew of new gadgets, and such added features as proximity communications. Getting a guard's attention is no longer a matter of just pressing a button to whistle, but actually whistling into your communicator. Will it work? If past experience with the series is any indication, it probably will. What else does Sam have up his sleeve this year? You'll have to read the preview to find out.
