Ubisoft has been kind enough to release a number of new screenshots from the upcoming Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter for the Xbox 360 and Xbox home consoles. Most of the screenshots come from the much prettier Xbox 360 version, featuring soft lighting and all the nifty graphical effects you\'d expect in the next generation of games.
About three of the screenshots come from the Xbox version of the game. Aside from the aerial shot of the city, every screenshot that\'s not taken in wide-screen format is for the Xbox.
Ghost Recon, along with titles like Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, are some of the most anticipated games coming out in the next few months. Ghost Recon, unlike its also popular Rainbow Six companion series of tactical shooters, tends to traditionally focus on outdoor and city environments. The open terrains and vehicle interactions of Ghost Recon have won it a loyal following of gamers. The quality of the series has improved with each iteration since it was introduced on the Xbox.
Between the Rainbow Six series and Ghost Recon, Ubisoft has an excellent track record in terms of supporting their products via Xbox Live content. As one of the first franchises to make good use of the original launch of the Xbox Live service, many loyal fans consider Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six to be
the games to play online.
Screenshot comparisons between the Xbox 360 and Xbox versions of Ghost Recon are interesting, but ultimately of limited value. Many of the advantages of the Xbox 360\'s added power appear in ways that are not immediately visible in screenshots. For example, lighting effects, dust clouds, and improved physics are all elements that will probably come across better on the Xbox 360 than on the original Xbox. All of those are elements which are difficult to capture in still frames.
