Articles Archive | 09/27/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Last Spring US District Court Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr. determined that videogames do not qualify as "speech" and are therefore not protected under the First Amendment. The case was brought before Judge Limbaugh by the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA) and St. Louis videogame retailers and arcade owners who were upset about an ordinance passed by the St. Louis City Council regulating violent and mature videogames. In the court's ruling, Judge Limbaugh wrote that there is "no conveyance of ideas, expressions, or anything else that could possibly amount to speech. The court finds that video games have more in common with board games and sports than they do with motion pictures."

Yahoo! has built a lot of things in the past. Beginning as a list of websites circulated through email and newsgroups, it could be said that Yahoo! is a good portion of the reason the World Wide Web took off the way it did “ we wouldn't be surfing around so much if we had to rely on JoeBob's List of Kickass Links to get the job done. The company has always been on the cutting edge; from their unique ad campaigns to their development of community-oriented online spaces, they have done a lot to enhance our experience of the Web and to bring new users online.

news | 09/21/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
Bam! Entertainment, headed up by former Sega leader Bernie Stolar, claims the honor of being the first publisher to release a title developed through the Microsoft Incubator Program. Chase: Hollywood Stunt Driver is the title, and it looks much better than that other stunt driving game that came out. Plus, it\'s developed by the only African dev house making games for the Xbox. That\'s a bit of trivia if we ever heard it. Click here.

Pac-Man All-Stars Review (PC)
game: Pac-Man All-Stars
review | 09/21/02 | GF! Back Catalogue 10/2004 => 1995
If you\'ve played the older versions of Pac-Man, then you pretty much know what you\'re getting into with Pac-Man All-Stars. This title is little more than a facelift, and the replacement of the maze with more \'realistic\' 3D levels doesn\'t quite work out. Click here for more.

GORE Review (PC)
game: GORE
review | 09/10/02 | Aaron Stanton
Dreamcatcher Interactive brings us a first person shooter that doesn\'t do a lot of new things, but should liven up your next LAN bash a bit. GORE provides the basic FPS experience we\'ve come to know and love -- lots of mindless violence and some nice graphics. All of this at a bargain price, too. Not bad. Click here.

Greek Geeks Fight Gaming Ban
editorial | 09/05/02 | Shawn Rider
In a horribly misguided stab at limiting gambling in public places, the Greek Government has created a ban on all videogames. That\'s right: Playing games on your PC, Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance (especially in public) is illegal in Greece. The first couple of internet cafe owners have been arrested already for allowing gaming in their public establishments, and things have gotten more rotten than 4:00 AM at a LAN bash over there.
