editorial | 09/20/05 | Chris Martin
Never a crew to let a single viewpoint dominate (we\'re still cleaning up the offices from the Great Console Wars of 01/02), our man Chris Martin has stepped up to the metaphorical typewriter. Those of you who find the Nintendo Revolution a bit too syrupy-sweet and dreamily perfect most likely share some of Chris\' concerns.
game: Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
news | 09/19/05 | Aaron Stanton
This year the Birdman\'s adventures take him to a seamless model of LA. But how can that fit into a wee little handheld like the Nintendo DS? Make a different game. Tony Hawk\'s American Sk8land is a totally different game, cel-shaded, and still features all the character customization and online muliplayer capabilities we\'ve come to expect from the bigger Hawk experience. Check out the latest screens here.

editorial | 09/17/05 | Shawn Rider
With the announcement of the Revolution controller, Nintendo has proven that, at least some of the time, they really \"get\" it. Get what? Gaming. In a next-gen lineup that has been, frankly, a total snooze-fest, the Revolution has finally shown us a sliver of light, which we think will broaden into a bright new direction for game design to explore. While Sony and Microsoft are content to release platform upgrades, it looks like Nintendo is the only one attempting to move gaming to a new generation.
game: Zelda
editorial | 09/17/05 | George Holomshek
The creator of The Legend of Zelda series made rather cryptic comments recently about how The Twilight Princess will be the final Zelda title we\'ll see in this form. Changes are coming. Now that the Nintendo Revolution\'s controller has come onto the stage, we couldn\'t help but wonder exactly what that means. Will Zelda be better for the ability to fish and draw a bow with your hand? We take a look at what Zelda might be in just a few years.
game: Nintendo Revolution
editorial | 09/16/05 | Aaron Stanton
Nintendo has pulled the Revolution controller from its magic hat, and the gaming community is now reeling in surprise. Initial responses around GamesFirst have ranged from, \"Wow,\" to, \"That\'s the ugliest thing I\'ve ever seen.\" How well the controller works depends on the quality of games Nintendo and third party developers can produce. Another question, though: After months of fan mock-ups and fake Revolution photos, did any of them get it right? Did anyone get even close? Turns out one or two did.
editorial | 09/16/05 | George Holomshek
George, our resident Nintendophile, rolls around some ideas about the newly revealed Revolution controller. With few details to go on, George outlines some of the potential of the new controller, as well as some of our reservations (such as, what is the legal limit to the number of \"dongle\" jokes we can make in a single article?). Check out his impressions of the Revolution controller in this editorial.
news | 09/16/05 | Shawn Rider
Nintendo has finally revealed their groundbreaking controller design for the upcoming Nintendo Revolution console. And it\'s a... remote?!? Sure to cause widespread outbreaks of whiplash as gamers everywhere do a massive doubletake, this proves two things: First, Nintendo has the cojones of a Tanuki. Second, well, Nintendo has some real big balls. Get the scoop on what actually sounds like it could be a real revolution in gaming control (once you get past the doofiness) right here.
game: Tales of Legendia
news | 09/15/05 | Aaron Stanton
Namco has cut the ribbon on the
teaser website for Tales of Legendia, the latest in the popular Tales series of RPGs. The Tales games have become renowned over the years for their stylized cartoon graphics, their young, well-developed characters, and the games\' real-time battle system. The website has basic information on the story, the characters, and the environments that you can expect to be adventuring through when the game releases come 2006. The last time we saw the Tales series, it was on the
Nintendo GameCube in Tales of Symphonia, one of the best RPGs to ever appear on the system. Or on any system. Tales of Legendia will be released in winter of 2006 for the PS2.
game: Xbox 360
news | 09/12/05 | Aaron Stanton
A member of the Xbox 360 development team has told BBC that Microsoft\'s next generation game system will be difficult to hack. We can only speculate about what that means. It also brings to mind a few other interesting attempts by companies in the past to prevent hacking, such as Nintendo\'s brilliant move to make the GameCube so unpopular that no one would care. We here at GamesFirst have figured out a fool proof hacking system, though, that works pretty much every time.
game: Lost in Blue
preview | 09/11/05 | Shawn Rider
Konami\'s Lost in Blue looks to easily become one of a small group of truly innovative and standout titles on Nintendo DS this Fall. Lost in Blue casts you onto the shores of a deserted island, and it is up to you to use your wits to survive. With cool touch screen minigames used to perform manual tasks, and a deep and complex simulation governing the island that affects almost every task you perform, Lost in Blue has all the markings of a must play.
game: X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse
news | 09/10/05 | Shawn Rider
Due in October, Vicarious Visions\' PSP version of X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse looks to be a game well worth watching. The PSP has been in a serious drought lately, with lackluster titles and very few of them. It\'s a Nintendo-like wasteland of early development for PSP owners. But X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse could be a breakout hit this Fall, especially of it features a robust (and infrastructure) WiFi mode.
game: Trauma Center: Under the Knife
news | 09/09/05 | George Holomshek
Trauma Center: Under the Knife is the hottest medical sim coming to Nintendo DS this Fall. Actually, we\'re pretty sure it\'s just about the only game in the medical sim game this season. But that doesn\'t dampen our excitement for October 4, when Trauma Center will hit retail. Check out these five new screens for five more reasons to be super stoked.
game: Sony PSP
news | 09/06/05 | Aaron Stanton
Last week\'s launch of the Sony PSP enjoyed unparalleled success, selling more units in the first week than any other system in the history of the United Kingdom. Roughly 185,000 PSPs sold in the days following the system\'s release, compared to the 87,000 Nintendo DS units that moved from shelves during the launch of Nintendo\'s handheld. The Nintendo DS, sold since March, still claims a greater total combined systems sold, and it remains to be seen how Sony\'s numbers hold up against the onslaught of highly anticipated Nintendo games expected this Holiday season. Nintendogs, for example, expects an October 7th release.

This is a day for Revolution news. We\'ve already mentioned this site elsewhere on GamesFirst, but in light of the upcoming possible unveiling of the
Nintendo Revolution controller in just a few days, we figured we\'d point out some rather light-hearted entertainment to deal with the system.
Joystiq.com has an article up that recaps and links to a number of fan mock-ups of the
Nintendo Revolution controller. Included in the list are supposed eyewitness reports that may or may not be true. They\'re fun to read over knowing there\'s a possibility that you\'ll know the truth by the 16th of this month, which makes the mystery a bit more bearable. It will also make the disappointment sharper if
Nintendo continues keeping its mouth shut. Included in the list of suggested features for the Revolution controller are such things like hot and cold feedback regions and the ever-popular touch-pad screen. Check it out.
