Oblivion's Missing Physics
game: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
feature | 04/16/06 | Aaron Stanton
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has consistently been impressing reviewers and gamers alike. The expansive world and do-anything style of gameplay is quickly coming to define what consumers think of as next generation. However, even with its beautiful lighting effects and never-ending storyline, Oblivion\'s environments serve as a perfect example of why physics will be what really defines next generation gaming, not still visuals. It is a splendidly beautiful world that still requires a blind eye in order to believe the environment. Be sure to read the full article.

Ys: The Ark of Napishtim Review
game: Ys: The Ark of Napishtim
review | 04/02/06 | Matt James
Ys: Ark of Napishtim is the latest iteration of Konami\'s anime-RPG franchise. This time Ys makes its debut on the PSP, bringing a PS2-style traditional RPG experience to the best little PS2 emulator out there. The game makes the transition from home console to portable title fairly well, except for the PSP\'s monstrous load times and a complete lack of any portable-friendly game pacing. Get the good and the bad on Ark of Napishtim in Matt\'s review.

game: Metroid Prime: Hunters
review | 03/30/06 | George Holomshek
Since the release of the Nintendo DS gamers have been anticipating the DS-exclusive, Metroid Prime: Hunters. Featuring a funky touch-screen control style, Metroid-classic adventure gaming and a robust online multiplayer mode, Hunters might just be all it\'s cracked up to be. This is the first time the GF! staff has been so addicted to online multiplayer in a handheld shooter; a revamped friends system and voice chat enhance the experience in many ways. Our resident Nintendophile George found time to write up this review of Hunters in-between sessions of spanking GF! Assistant Editor, Aaron Stanton in online bouts. (7-0 Aaron? Are you sure you\'re qualified for this job?)

Super Princess Peach
game: Super Princess Peach
review | 03/19/06 | Laurie Taylor
Finally, the Princess has come into her own: Super Princess Peach marks the first time longtime Mario world fave, Princess Peach, has played the lead role in her own platformer. Incorporating the touch screen and the microphone found on the Nintendo DS, Super Princess Peach offers up a great spin on classic Mario-style gaming, with an excellent level of quality. It might be a bit easy for the hardcore, but for retro fans, new gamers, and anyone looking for a hip girly game, Super Princess Peach is a must-play. Get the full details in Laurie\'s review.

GT Legends Review
game: GT Legends
review | 03/17/06 | Chris Martin
GT Legends takes the gameplay essentials of GTR and throws them into the golden era of racing: the 1960\'s and 70\'s. With a steep learning curve and a perplexing lack of information about how to race (even in the manual), GT Legends still offers a great simulation-style gaming experience for anyone willing to push through the difficulties at the starting line. If you don\'t mind figuring out for yourself when you have to stop for a pit, or that receiving a False Start warning means you have to pit after the first lap in order to avoid disqualification, then GT Legends will be worth your time.

Electronic Arts has confirmed North American and European release dates for The Godfather, the game based on Francis Ford Coppola\'s 1972 mafia movie classic. PC, Xbox and PS2 owners will get a shot at the virtual mob lifestyle in March. EA also has Xbox 360 and PSP versions in development, but those won\'t be out until later this year. The Right Moves: West Virginia Officially Adopts DDR Into Physical Education Curriculum
game: Dance Dance Revolution
editorial | 01/26/06 | Shawn Rider
The state of West Virginia has partnered with game publisher Konami to bring Dance Dance Revolution into hundreds of school physical education programs. The deal will roll out over 700 Dance Dance Revolution arcade machines, beginning with the state\'s 103 middle/junior high schools. The officials are doing the right thing, but they\'re citing the wrong reasons. DDR is not a way to combat the sedentary lifestyle of the youth, it\'s a way to create a modernized physical education curriculum that does what it should: engages students in realistic physical activity. Shawn steps up to the soapbox in this editorial.

game: Seed
news | 01/10/06 | Shawn Rider
Beta signups are now open for the upcoming sci-fi MMORPG, Seed. Seed puts you in the role of a colonist settling the tense, perilous planet Da Vinci. A unique cel-shaded visual approach gives Seed the feeling of a graphic novel, and all of the in-game information is designed to uphold this comic book feel: Speech is shown in dialogue bubbles, and the screen is broken into panels. Gameplay is unique, too, focusing on character development and dynamically generated stories that are created for each individual player according to their style. Check out the Seed beta signups in order to get the early bird special this February.

StikAx Review
game: Ministry of Sound StikAx
review | 01/08/06 | Shawn Rider
What does a music and video mixing peripheral have to do with videogames? Not much. But the StikAx sure is fun. The bizarre mixing peripheral feels like an instrument, and the powerful editing software would be a great value even without the actual StikAx. Embrace the media lifestyle convergence and add the StikAx to your list of things to check out in the new year. It might make you the next big WoW machinimaker! Shawn\'s got a complete review here.

game: PoPoLoCrois
review | 12/20/05 | Shawn Rider
PoPoLoCrois has been a popular game series in Japan for a decade now, even spawning an animated TV series, but the series has never seen action in North America.
