Will Wright\'s Spore is a hot topic. Due for any platform that will run it at some point in the indeterminate future (you know how these uber-game projects go...), Spore offers, literally, the whole universe in a game. Begin as a jelly little protozoa and work your way through the state of nature, early tribes, civilized urban life, and finally interstellar exploration and mayhem-making. Jack Thompson has earned a reputation for championing legislation restricting video games. He\'s appeared on news shows like CNN, often presenting what many would argue is a one-sided assessment of the state of the game industry. Now, he\'s booking appointments for talk show appearances over the recent Oblivion re-rate issue. In a press release sent to GamesFirst, Jack Thompson makes himself available for talk show interviews. The press release contains huge and obvious factual errors, a tactic that\'s been used by Jack Thompson repeatedly in the past. Still, you have to love quotes like, \"(The Oblivion nudity) is not a modification or \"mod\" of the game by gamers. Konami\'s Silent Hill has come to PSP, but that\'s a misleading statement. The Silent Hill EXPERIENCE has come to PSP, but apparently the experience doesn\'t include any actual game. Rather, The Silent Hill Experience is a UMD full of all the things we would expect to get for free as extras and unlockables in a AAA game title. It\'s got comics, video and music from the game, but it ultimately left our resident Silent Hill fan, Laurie, a bit cold. Get the full review here.

Rumors have more or less stated that the PlayStation 3 won\'t make its Spring launch, and now it\'s official. The PS3 is coming in November. November of 2006 will have the PS3 hitting store shelves a full year behind the Xbox 360, which launched in late November of 2005. Without specific word on when Nintendo plans on releasing their Revolution, it\'s hard to say whether or not this will make the PS3 the last console of this generation to reach the market. Back in the early day of the PS2, Rockstar followed up their blockbuster GTA3 with State of Emergency, a game widely rumored to be based on the WTO riots in Seattle that put you in the middle of giant marauding crowds bent on destroying the man. SOE featured an innovative game engine that allowed for previously unheard of numbers of characters on-screen as well as a locational damage/weapon engine that allowed you to rip off body parts and use them to beat down new victims. Koei\'s latest historical Asian brawler is heading to PSP in the very near future. Samurai Warriors: State of War has gone gold and is in production as you read this. In addition to announcing the impending launch, Koei also sends word of a revamped website for Samurai Warriors: State of War. The new site is sized and optimized for the PSP\'s small screen web browser. That is a nice touch for PSP owners, who can browse the web with the browser included on the handheld gaming system. The state of West Virginia has partnered with game publisher Konami to bring Dance Dance Revolution into hundreds of school physical education programs. The deal will roll out over 700 Dance Dance Revolution arcade machines, beginning with the state\'s 103 middle/junior high schools. The officials are doing the right thing, but they\'re citing the wrong reasons. DDR is not a way to combat the sedentary lifestyle of the youth, it\'s a way to create a modernized physical education curriculum that does what it should: engages students in realistic physical activity. InfinityMods.com claims to have a 360 modchip in hand, and will most likely have it available for purchase within 2 weeks. But what do they really mean by that? Turns out, the statement on their front page is somewhat misleading, since another line, deeper into their website, says, \"Preorders to be accepted within approx 2 weeks.\" So the question isn\'t whether or not there is an Xbox 360 chip, but whether or not you\'d be wise to throw in your money on a preorder for a chip you know nothing about. We take a look at all the information we have (which is admittedly very little) and attempt to make an educated guess about the legitimacy of this claim. Does InfinityMods really have a 360 chip?

An Xbox 360 demo disc intended for kiosk 360\'s in Europe appears to lack the normal protection of other 360 games, and has been pirated on the Internet. A group known as \"PI\" have released statements about their progress hacking the Xbox 360\'s software protection, including releasing an ISO disc image of the demo disc, which contains demos found in Xbox 360 kiosks.

Hillary Clinton and Joseph Lieberman have announced plans to introduce legislation called the Family Entertainment Protection Act (FEPA). The short story about the bill is that it would legislate the practices which are voluntary for retailers to follow under current ESRB guidelines, making it illegal to sell Mature rated games to minors, creating a formal avenue for consumer complaints, and initiating an annual review and \"secret-shopper\" survey of retailer compliance. The Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) is not happy with the planned FEPA, and they have issued a statement against the bill today.

No, we\'re not talking about a legal document limiting the power of English monarchs in the year of 1215 (But, if you can make a fun videogame about that, we\'d love to see it!). Atlus and Softmax\'s Magna Carta: Tears of Blood is a new roleplaying game for the PS2 that has made its way from Korea to Japan, and is now on its way to make a new niche in the United States. Zelda II was the last official Zelda title released on the NES in the United States, but there\'s speculation that maybe a third title existed, or was at least under development before the series was transferred to the SuperNES. Recently, a gamer claimed to have found a Legend of Zelda III NES cartridge at a flea market containing an unfinished build of the third Zelda installment. What unfolded was a series of events that include eBay listings, accusations of fraud, and an official denial of involvement from none other than the Canadian development company Silicon Knights. The cartridge ultimately sold for $3000 CAD (about $2500 USD). Or did it? We take a look at the time-line of events.
