Vietcong 2 Review
game: Vietcong 2
review | 11/21/05 | Sean Hilliard
Vietcong 2 puts gamers into the Vietnam War and allows them to play either American or Vietcong forces. Solid gameplay and nice production values make Vietcong a decent title, but a completely stock story and some boneheaded AI prevent it from standing out. Vietcong 2 is still a welcome change from the overplayed WWII games that proliferate these days. Check in with Sean Hilliard for his complete review.

Hideo Kojima Joins the Blogosphere
news | 10/22/05 | Shawn Rider
Hideo Kojima has officially joined the blogosphere. Hideoblog, hosted on Konami\'s Kojima Productions site, is an interesting read. It\'s a classic example of bringing some everyday humanity to a legendary figure, and reading Kojima\'s descriptions of checking email while eating lunch and the light reflecting from Tokyo\'s Roppongi Hills brings a real sense of the man behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise. And on some days Kojima is doing things like getting his copy of Hard Boiled autographed by Frank Miller. It\'s a bit surreal, and should be a must-read for any Kojima acolytes. Check it out.

game: E3 2005: F.E.A.R. - First Encounter Assault Recon
preview | 06/01/05 | Blaine Krumpe
There are few things more mysterious than secret government research facilities. Whether it's the combination of the unknown, the possibility of really bizarre experiments going on, or the fact that a lot of them seem to be underground, government research labs gone bad claim their share of would-be horror games, and spark the imagination. F.E.A.R., an upcoming horror FPS, ventures once again into the depths of a government lab in search of answers. Can it hold up in a genre weighted by competition? Our man Blaine reports his thoughts after some hands-on at E3.

E3 2005: Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End
game: E3 2005: Call of Cthulhu: Destiny's End
preview | 05/24/05 | Laurie Taylor
Few things can lay claim to influencing the horror genre over the years as strongly as Lovecraft's dark tales of the unknown. The malformed shapes of the enemies in games like Silent Hill owe a debt to those creatures that first made an appearance in the mind of H.P. Lovecraft. Now, a game is coming that's using Lovecraft as source material directly. Read our E3 preview of Call of Cthulhu for an inside look at what you'll want to be afraid of in the coming months.

Batman Begins
game: Batman Begins
preview | 05/09/05 | George Holomshek
Movies and video games have not been incredibly kind to the Batman franchise over the years. While some of the blockbuster productions turned out to be better than others, fans of the series have longed for a darker, deeper look at what makes a man parade around in leather armor and a bat cap. Now, Batman Begins promises to give fans a glimpse of Batman's roots, and the game promises to have a much stronger stealth and fear element to it than past games. An all-new Batman seems to be hiding in the shadows, and we can only hope that the new one will be capable of kicking the old one's ass. Check out our preview for more details.

The Punisher
game: The Punisher
review | 03/02/05 | Monica Hafer
If you're looking for a night of good, clean fun, The Punisher is probably not where you want to start. This dark conversion of the comic-turned movie is another example of comic book plotlines making it to the small screen, and the result is a game that lets you torture bad guys until they spill the beans, but barely interact with pretty much anyone or anything else. Though there's some real talent in the production values, some serious lack of depth keeps it from being all the kick-ass it could be. Read the full review for details.

Resident Evil 4
game: Resident Evil 4
review | 01/24/05 | George Holomshek
As so many gamers will tell you, zombies make for good gaming. And the OG zombie shooter is Resident Evil. When it first came out, the RE series was an amazing achievement featuring moody camera angles and truly frightening gameplay. But after three major incarnations, and twice as many spin-offs, it's hard to keep the magic alive. So we were a little nervous about Resident Evil 4, the latest installment of the series. We all huddled in the back shed and then we pushed out one of our new guys, George, to see if the zombies would eat his brain. He got a little munched, but a couple of green herbs fixed him right up, and he managed to come up with an in-depth review. Click the details link for lots more.

Resident Evil Zero Review (GC)
game: Resident Evil Zero
review | 12/16/02 | Aaron Stanton
Those neck-chompin\', boot-scootin\', moanin\' and scrapin\' zombies are back. Actually, since Resident Evil Zero takes place before the first Resident Evil, those zombies just haven\'t been cleaned out yet. Slick graphics and a brand new two-character simultaneous play mode set Zero apart from its predecessors.

Capcom brings us a combination of FPS and on-rails shooter in Dino Stalker. In order to save the future, you must destroy the past, or some such nonsense. The plot isn\'t important -- killing dinosaurs is. Fans of the shooter might want to take a closer look. Click here.
