Bandai and Namco have officially inegrated their North American operations. They are now known as Namco Bandai Games America Inc. It looks like Bandai will be moving into the former Namco Hometek headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Namco is well-known for classic games dating back to Pac Man and Dig Dug, but also for recent hits like the Soul Calibur series. Bandai holds several popular anime/manga/game franchises as well, including Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, .Hack, and many more. Click here for the official press release.

The Chronicles of Spellborn: What Lies Hidden Must Be Found is a good-looking new MMORPG on the block. Developed by a Dutch group, and featuring a unique graphical style that sets it apart from the typical fantasy game aesthetics, Spellborn might be just the thing for folks tiring of the WoW bump and grind. The teaser site has plenty of info up about the game, as well as some unique \"Choose Your Own Adventure\" styled narratives to help gamers get into the backstory. EA Sports\' FIFA franchise is often the only thing going in the US, and that\'s not necessarily a good thing. Matt James took a close look at FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup, the Xbox 360 launch incarnation of the FIFA series, and found that it\'s probably not worth the upgrade. The visuals are real purty, but the rest of the game just isn\'t up to par. It\'s too tough for newbs to pick it up, and it lacks features and roster that the current-gen versions have. An interesting hybrid of real-time and turn-based strategy play, Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath does its best to set itself apart from the masses of other strategy games. Set in a hypothetical alternate history that posits the Cuban Missile Crisis led to catastrophic nuclear war, the game has a lot going for it: Optional missions, nuclear wastelands, several different campaigns based on different superpowers. There is a lot to like here, but can Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath stand out among the faceless masses of hardcore war games? George has the review.

In the battle of Xbox 360 launch titles, two contenders went head-to-head on the hardwood: NBA Live 06 and NBA 2K6. Chris Martin already reported on NBA Live\'s disappointing performance, but left us dangling on NBA 2K6\'s courtside prowess. So how does the 2K Sports title fare against behemoth EA\'s basketball baby? Rather well. PoPoLoCrois has been a popular game series in Japan for a decade now, even spawning an animated TV series, but the series has never seen action in North America. Agetec\'s latest incarnation of PoPoLoCrois for the PSP is a revamped combination of the first two games in the series, originally released on PSOne, plus some additional original content. Featuring very nice animated cutscenes, and a super-kawaii art style, PoPoLoCrois is likely to satisfy any gamers looking for a classic RPG experience on-the-go. Check Shawn\'s review for more.

Before it was released, Xbox 360 engineer Chris Satchell went on record as saying that the system would include security measures, \"the hacker community has never seen before.\" At the time we could only speculate what that meant. Microsoft was claiming the system would be close to unhackable. Now, it looks like the hacking community is making progress. Turns out that members of Team PI Coders have found a way to pull source files off the Xbox 360 as games are loaded. Let the race begin.

Slamdance, the indy film festival that runs opposite Sundance (the just-shy-of-Hollywood film festival), will hold a Guerilla Gamemaker Competition this year. Featuring well-known indy and art games such as Cloud and Facade among a list of others. Slamdance will feature a Game Lounge area where attendees can play all of these indy games and Slamdance will bestow an array of awards on the independent developers, students and artists who have created some of the most unique games we\'ve ever seen.

Last week, we here at GamesFirst published a side-by-side comparison of King Kong on the Xbox and Xbox 360. By looking at nearly identical games, it\'s interesting to see the graphical differences between the two. However, the Xbox 360\'s major differences are in the ability to render dynamic lighting and environmental effects, which are difficult to see in static screenshots. As a result, we\'ve redone the article using side-by-side video capture from each system. The differences are both more obvious, in the cases when a difference is visible, and more underwhelming, when certain key scenes are difficult to distinguish between the two. Take a look, and decide for yourself.
